Fall Talks: The Fix, Tallahassee in 2027
Sunday, December 13, 2026
4:00 PM – 5:00 PM EST
Miami Beach cannot fix the Live Local Act by itself: it was passed in Tallahassee, and it has been widened three times since 2023. The 2027 legislative session is the next chance to change it.
In this last talk of the series, Daniel Ciraldo looks at what changing Live Local could look like, where the Hillsborough County lawsuit stands, what other cities and counties are asking for, and who to call, write to and ask.
Send your questions in advance when you register, and we'll take them in the Q&A.
Sunday, December 13, 4 PM ET, on Zoom. Free.

Daniel Ciraldo
Founder of SaveMiamiBeach.org
Daniel Ciraldo is the publisher of the Miami Beach Journal and founder of Save Miami Beach, a civic initiative since 2015 focused on protecting the city’s character and quality of life. Today’s Save Miami Beach is a separate entity from, but inspired by, the original Save Miami Beach movement of the 1990s.
He previously served for eight years as Executive Director of the Miami Design Preservation League, a preservation organization based in the Miami Beach Art Deco Historic District, where he worked on historic preservation, responsible development, resiliency, and the future of Miami Beach’s built environment.
In 2026, the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation honored him with its Individual Distinguished Service award.
He also runs Young Folks Consulting, which gives nonprofits, advocacy groups and public-impact organizations executive leadership, strategy and smart systems, without the cost of a full-time executive.
A former candidate for the Miami Beach City Commission, Ciraldo remains actively engaged in local planning and development issues, with a particular focus on protecting Miami Beach’s historic character and ensuring residents have a meaningful voice in decisions shaping their neighborhoods.
