Fall Talks: Can the Beach Carry It?
Sunday, November 8, 2026
4:00 PM – 5:00 PM EST
Eleven Live Local Act applications would add 1,256 homes to Miami Beach. Is there room in the pipes?
In this talk, Daniel Ciraldo looks at what the towers would ask of the island's sewers, water supply and drainage, on a barrier island that already floods: what the applications say, what the city's own infrastructure plans say, what the state law does and does not require a developer to show, and what residents can ask the city to do about it.
Send your questions in advance when you register, and we'll take them in the Q&A.
Sunday, November 8, 4 PM ET, on Zoom. Free.

Daniel Ciraldo
Founder of SaveMiamiBeach.org
Daniel Ciraldo is the publisher of the Miami Beach Journal and founder of Save Miami Beach, a civic initiative since 2015 focused on protecting the city’s character and quality of life. Today’s Save Miami Beach is a separate entity from, but inspired by, the original Save Miami Beach movement of the 1990s.
He previously served for eight years as Executive Director of the Miami Design Preservation League, a preservation organization based in the Miami Beach Art Deco Historic District, where he worked on historic preservation, responsible development, resiliency, and the future of Miami Beach’s built environment.
In 2026, the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation honored him with its Individual Distinguished Service award.
He also runs Young Folks Consulting, which gives nonprofits, advocacy groups and public-impact organizations executive leadership, strategy and smart systems, without the cost of a full-time executive.
A former candidate for the Miami Beach City Commission, Ciraldo remains actively engaged in local planning and development issues, with a particular focus on protecting Miami Beach’s historic character and ensuring residents have a meaningful voice in decisions shaping their neighborhoods.
